We'll come to your fire if you come to our ball!

We made our annual trek to Jackson Hole for the Fireman's Ball. It's our girls get away weekend that we have been taking for a few years. Every year we add some new faces. This year Nicole's friend Liz joined us and two of our friends from work and quilting, Sandy and Kirsten.

Sandy, Kirsten and I were lucky enough to get Thursday off and head up early. Nicole and Liz joined us late that night. Unfortunately not in time to catch the midnight showing of Twilight. Due to them being distracted by the red light district in Afton, they missed the turn and the movie.

Friday morning Sandy and I quilted, Kirsten was the intellectual of the group reading The Grapes of Wrath and Nicole and Liz enjoyed some quiet mommy time. They deserved the sleep time since Isabelle called us at 6:45 with a loveable wake up call. Not really so cute after going to bed at 4:30! We wasted time waiting for Kel and Kristen at the moivees with all the screaming teenagers of Jackson Hole. We heart Edward :)

The only downfall of Jackson in November is that it is the off season. That means places are either closed til the slopes open or they close early. We had a few issues eating. Thank goodness Liz made us waffles for breakfast!

Off to the ball. OK, so it's not much of a ball. It's the hockey rink converted into a dance hall/auction house. It's all locals dressed up in all their glory. This could be a nice Stetson or a trampy dress they got from god knows where. Our entertainment is people watching. There was the purple prairie dress that would make any polygamist proud to be on the dancefloor. The ten gallon hat. The extraordinary mustaches that you can only find in cowboy towns. The girl we called Take Out because she was wearing chopsticks in her hair and was usually found hooked to the lips of Nascar Dude. He was really wearing a Polaris team shirt but Kristen didn't realize that and I didn't want to tell her because she was so proud of the nicknames.

When people watching got too boring, Nicole, Liz and Kristen disappeared. They created a new game for the ball. Get your picture taken with a Fireman! I found my sis and Liz wrapped around volunteer fireman Brad.

To wrap up the weekend Kristen and I stole a banner. We couldn't leave town without a souvenir and Huckleberry syrup or a carved bear didn't seem fitting. Our 6' tall red banner from the ball was what we needed. It took a few tries of pulling and falling off the top of my car but we were successfull. Sorry we didn't have to call for bail . . . maybe next year.

It was a good time and we can't wait for next year's adventures.

The Fireman's Ball in Jackson

Disney's Princess Mulan

Don't let the prim and proper Mulan fool you! Iz will take tiny steps like a proud princess and then kick you in the shins with a powerful warrior karate chop!

Oktoberfest

We spent the night up at Snowbird in a condo at the lodge. The girls bungee jumped on the trampoline, rode the Alpine Slide with Mike and Kyky, polka danced and Iz got to be the star of the bells!

New York & Yankee Stadium

We finally made it to Yankee Stadium! We spent 3 days in New York and about killed Mike with our itenerary. We walked him from Times Square to Battery Park so he could see all the sights of the lower part of Manhattan by noon on Friday.

Saturday we met up with Todd & Leslie for the Yankees game. Sadly, they won but it was fun to see the stadium. Ky mostly looked at the Yankee butts and remorsed about Damon being in pin stripes and clean shaven. After the game we went to a street festival in Little Italy for dinner. It was a great weekend.

We are off to the train and headed North to Providence. We'll have to make it to Fenway to make ourselves feel cleansed

New York

San Diego

Over the 24th of July Nicole, Mom, Iz, Abs and I went to San Diego. Kelly joined us for the first day and was a good sport, letting us use her as the golden ticket to ride Journey to Atlantis!! Iz didn't understand why the next day she had to wait 90 minutes in line!

We ventured to Sea World, The Wild Animal Park and The Zoo all in 4 days. The girls fed sea lions, bat rays, and dolphins. Face painting seemed to be the favorite souvenir though.

San Diego Trip

Soccer

OK . . . so it's not a vacation but she's so cute!

Soccer Girl

The Daisy Express

600 miles, a speeding ticket and 14 hours later we learned we have a riverbend! Who knew! We spent a couple of hours exploring property lines, trenching through dirt and climbing hills but know we know exactly where our property starts and ends. Well sort of - we're not quite sure where it ends along the river. But who cares! We have waterfront property $$$

Daisy Express Trip

Rough Day

This is the most laid back vacation we have ever been on. We're not quite sure what to do when the only itenerary is to decide where we should put our beach chairs for the day.

Yesterday the beach massage hut was up. Ky & went and had massages for her birthday. It was a steal at only $35 for an hour! A little different laying by the ocean in the open air with the sound of crashing waves than in a little dim lit rim at a spa with Yanni playing. I really wish I would have gone when they were here last week!!

Cabo

Airport drama continues

Jeanna made it in successfully on time. But, poor JD and Kel's plane had mechanical problems so they didn't make it out of SLC. They finally arrived in Cabo around midnight instead of noon.

Security was a breeze!

The wine racks sucessfully made it through security without even a second look. Though Kristen's was wound so tightly around the girls and the nozzle was thoroughly taped shut, I'm not sure they would have even found it they had patted her down!

We ended up sitting at the SLC gate for over an hour because the flight plan they had for us didn't take into account the mountains. Way to start a trip out with confidence. Getting into Houston late had the entire plane a bit angry. With most of the passengers trying to rush to make connections, the announcement that the jetway was broken and security was on their way to fix it so we could get off didn't go over too well. Then while sitting there I happened to glance out the window just as my beach bag drove past on top of the luggage train. Since it was packed in my suitcase along with my panties and swimsuits I was a little concerned where the rest might be!

The jetway came down, they rescheduled us on a flight for the next day, but with sloshing bras we ran through three terminals and made our plane with a minute to spare!

I am never traveling with Kristen on a plane again because apparently this is normal for her.

Cabo here we come!

We are off to Cabo!

The first summer vacation of the year is finally here. Kristen and I are flying out on Wednesday. We have our Wine Racks filled and ready to go.
